With transition from primary school to high school underway, tens of thousands of young people across Scotland are beginning the exciting and nerve-wracking journey from P7 up to the “big school”. To ease nerves and boost confidence, Dunfermline based Inspirational training company, Tree of Knowledge, in association with the National e-Learning Offer (NeLO), are hosting a free and totally unique event to support P7s making the leap.

Taking place on Wednesday 22 June 2022 at 1.15pm, “We’re Aff Tae The Big School” is a 90-minute virtual celebration, hosted by world renowned Keynote Speaker, Best Selling Author and MD of Tree of Knowledge, Gavin Oattes and his team of motivational speakers.

The high-energy session will incorporate inspirational speeches, great advice, myth busting, and motivational messages from special guests including World’s Strongest Man, Tom Stoltman, Newsround’s Shenequa Paris, and River City’s Leah MacRae.

It will also feature the biggest ever virtual P7 quiz, with prizes to be won including a class worth of copies of Brill Kid: The Big Number 2, authored by Gavin Oattes and Dr Andy Cope, and an overnight hotel stay in a teacher’s competition.

Gavin says; “Having worked with thousands of schools over the past 15 years, we can see that transition is a pivotal time in the lives of young people. The attitude and mindset in which they enter into secondary school affects their experience. Our aim is simply to inspire them to move into this new setting with confidence and a wee fire in their bellies; to help them be the very best versions of themselves in order to get the most out of their years at high school.”

Gayle Gorman, Chief Inspector of Education and Chief Executive of Education Scotland, said:

“This event will be a fantastic celebration of P7’s and we’re delighted to be supporting it with our National e-Learning Offer partners. It is excellent to see so many primary schools across Scotland in attendance with every local authority area represented. We hope that learners will find this session to be lots of fun and that it will also provide them with confidence and inspiration at a crucial time in their lives.”

There’s still time for P7 teachers to sign their classes up via this link: https://bit.ly/TOKBigSchoolBookNow. Schools are advised to sign-up even if they are unable to attend, in order to receive a recording of the event.
