HM Inspectors have published a review of the Foundation Apprenticeship provision across Scotland.

Foundation Apprenticeships (FAs) are part-time, work-based learning programmes developed for young people in the senior phase of their secondary school education in Scotland.

Gayle Gorman, Chief Executive and Chief Inspector of Education Scotland said: “Foundation Apprenticeships were launched in Scotland in 2015 and this external review was a valuable opportunity to evaluate what is working well, what is in need of further development or improvement, and also to inform future arrangements for the programme.

"Our HM Inspectors met with an extensive range of stakeholders including young people, staff in schools, colleges and training providers as part of the review, and they also observed learning and teaching activities delivered online and onsite."

The review outlines HM Inspectors’ findings, across a number of areas including; equality, equity and inclusion; delivery of the FA programme; and learner progress and outcomes.
