Careers service reviews
From April 2014, external review of Scotland's careers information, advice and guidance services will be conducted by Education Scotland.
Reports will be published based on local authority geographical areas, with some additional Aspect Reports being provided on themes of national interest.
The policy paper Career Information Advice and Guidance in Scotland: A framework for service Redesign and Improvement (March 2011) highlighted the Scottish Government commitment to an all-age universal service provided through Skills Development Scotland (SDS).
The paper also highlighted the role of partnership in developing and improving that provision, and part of this partnership is the work with Education Scotland in helping to support quality assurance and improvement.
The quality framework and reporting models used in this work have a strong consistency with those used in other sectors, and have been tailored to have a specific focus on the careers support offered through SDS.
The key document underpinning these arrangements is 'External quality arrangements for the review of Careers Information and Guidance services delivered by Skills Development Scotland', published February 2014.
Reviewers who are engaged in this work will also be using the external reviewer handbook, 'Guidance for External Reviewers of Careers Information Advice and Guidance services delivered by Skills Development Scotland', published February 2014.
The review reports are available from the reports section.
