Curriculum Design - Embedding Skills throughout the Learner Journey
Wed, 20 September 2023, 10:00 - Thu, 19 September 2024, 11:30This professional learning opportunity is for lead practitioners who are interested in taking forward the systematic progression and recording of skills that learners develop throughout their educational journey.
It provides you with the necessary theory and information on current developments, including the wider context of DYW and curriculum innovation, in order to support you to take forward the implementation in your own educational setting. Theoretical elements will be augmented with the opportunity for professional dialogue and collaborative group work.
A series of 5 sessions will run from September 2023 until October 2024. Please note session times are 10:00am -11.30 am
Session 1: Wednesday 20th September 2023 - Why skills and why now?
Session 2: Tuesday 14th November 2023 - Meta-skills and skills frameworks
Session 3: Wednesday 17th January 2024 - Pedagogy, The learning environment and leveraging digital
Session 4: Tuesday 27th February 2024 - The Learner Journey and celebrating achievement
Session 5: Wednesday 30th October 2024 - Recall and Sharing our learning
Please note in addition to the above sessions there will also be a Check In Session, which will take place on Tuesday 28th May 2024 – 4:00pm-5:00pm
What is expected of participants?
In order to ensure maximum impact participants are expected to prioritise all sessions over the course of the year. The course is interactive in nature and therefore requires participants to actively participate throughout the course. Any virtual participation requires you to access digital equipment with a camera and microphone as well as google tools such as Jamboard. It is also expected that participants will take forward aspects of development work in their own time and share this at the ‘Recall/Sharing of learning’ session.
This CPD will be delivered by: Kirsty Campbell (Workstream Lead, Northern Alliance), Heather Grant (Workstream Lead, Northern Alliance), Tom Harley (Skills Development Scotland) and Klaus Mayer (Education Scotland).
Online Delivery Method: Microsoft Teams, please note joining instructions will be sent out 2 days before each session.
Target audience
Please be aware that the target audience for this event is professionals within the education sector in Scotland. To register, please enter either a school, establishment, local authority or Glow email address. If you work in Scottish education and would like to attend but do not have a Glow or work email address, please email esevents@educationscotland.gov.scot with the name of your setting or service, to request a place. Thank you for your understanding.
Ticket allocation
It is not possible to transfer your booking to anyone else. If you are unable to attend, please cancel your booking to free up a space for another participant. Please remember that for security purposes it is very important that you do not share event information with anyone else to provide them access to this event.
Joining instructions
Joining instructions will be sent out 48 hours before the event. Attendees are advised to double check they receive a confirmation email from Eventbrite to the email address they registered with as this may result in not receiving these instructions and could obstruct you from attending the event. Please contact us if you have still not received joining instructions one hour before the event start time. We would advise you to check your junk files for emails about the event.
