What was done?
This is a short video clip of some emerging literacy strategies used by school staff and speech and language therapists at Hilton Primary School.

School self-evaluation showed a persistent gap had emerged in the development of the children’s early literacy skills. The school embraced Highland’s approach which involved partnering with allied health professionals to create new strategies to identify and address gaps in early literacy development.
What was the impact?
The tracking and monitoring to date has shown phonological awareness and fine motor development have been successfully trialled . Year two Attainment Challenge funding will focus on embedding the programme into school literacy programmes in schoolhttps://www.youtube.com/embed/QbdYiHr5ABws in Highland with high levels of deprivation.
