More information about key education programmes can be found on the Education Scotland website as well as through the core Scottish Government website. In this section, we will provide links to materials and resources for some programmes, including the Scottish Attainment Challenge.


Scottish Attainment Challenge

The Scottish Attainment Challenge aims to raise the attainment of children and young people living in deprived areas, in order to close the equity gap.  It will drive forward improvements in educational outcomes to ensure that everyone is encouraged to be the best they can be.

The Attainment Scotland Fund supports Challenge Authorities, Schools Programme, Innovation Fund and, most recently, Pupil Equity Funding.

National Improvement Framework

​The National Improvement Framework is one of the most significant policy developments in Scottish education over the last 10 years.

The Framework sets out a vision based on achieving excellence and equity for all, regardless of pupils’ social background and circumstances.
