Introduction to HM Chief Inspector Report
Welcome to His Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Education’s report on the quality and improvement of education in Scotland.
Scrutiny is a fundamental element of our overall drive to continue to improve education in Scotland for all of our children, young people and adult learners.
Through our scrutiny programme, which reaches all sectors from early learning and childcare to adult learning, we gather rich evidence of what is working well in our education system, areas which are showing improvement and areas where further development is needed.
This dedicated area of our website brings together a range of information and key messages based on evidence gathered by HM Inspectors of Education. This will be valuable information for everyone who has an interest in education - designed to provide a range of professional learning materials which can be used to support continuous improvement in practice.
It is updated regularly and features:-
- A series of ‘Inspection Findings’ briefings which provide an analysis of the evidence gathered through inspections and other scrutiny activity
- National Thematic inspection reports
- Examples of practice HM Inspectors have identified for sharing more widely
- Key messages from His Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Education for Scotland
