Changes in Advanced Higher subjects

Session 2019/20 will see units and unit assessments removed from Advanced Higher subjects.  This work is a continuation from the Deputy First Minister's announcement in September 2016. In keeping with National 5 and Higher, the revised course specifications for Advanced Highers were published at the end of April 2019. Support materials are being published between now and September 2019.

In addition, the Scottish Qualifications Authority is also working through the system updates required as a result of the Deputy First Minister's announcement that Recognising Positive Achievement (RPA) – otherwise known as 'fallback' – will end after session 2018/19.  From session 2019/20, candidates will no longer be able to achieve a National 4 if they fail National 5, unless they have completed the full National 4 course.
