the Chat – Parental engagement on RSHP Education
Parents and carers are their child’s most important educator when it comes to learning about friendships, growing up, and being safe and healthy in relationships. From the age of 3 to 18 children and young people also learn at nursery and school, part of the curriculum called Relationship, Sexual Health and Parenthood (RSHP) education. But what do parents want and need to help them be their child’s best support?
A new parental engagement project called the Chat is looking to explore the following themes with parents and carers:
- How they support their child’s learning at home in terms of RSHP topics
- What they know and think about the RSHP learning going on at school
- How they want home and school to work together (so that children and young people get the best learning experiences)
- What would help parents and carers at home in their role as their child’s teacher on all these matters.
There are a number of ways that parents and carers can get involved. Further information is available on theChat website.
