This resource defines bullying and prejudice-based bullying then explores more deeply the nature of rascist bullying in both the primary and secondary school setting. It looks at:
- the impact on children and young people;
- barriers to reporting bullying incidents;
- responses to this type of bullying.
As well as specific responses to bullying, there is information on ways that an inclusive environment can be created where all children and young people feel happy, safe, respected and included.
How to use this learning and assessment resource to improve practice
It is expected that local authorities and organisations will develop their own anti-bullying policy and guidance, within the wider context of relationships and behaviour, based on Respect for All. This resource can be used to support the development of this anti-bullying policy and guidance. It can also be used to review how well the school is developing inclusive practice, for example:
- How well do we ensure that all children feel safe, healthy, achieving, nurtured, active, respected, responsible and included?
- To what extent does our establishment have a range of strategies to prevent and respond to racist bullying?
