Sketchnote - Green Acres Private Nursery - Transition processes at all stages - March 2019

What is this?

Sketchnotes provide a visual description of the practice and approaches which HM Inspectors have observed during scrutiny activities and are worth sharing more widely. This sketchnote provides a visual description of highly effective practice and approaches identified in the inspection of Green Acres Nursery in Glasgow.

Who is this for?

Leaders and practitioners across all learning settings.

Questions for discussion

Green Acres Nursery is a strong example of transition processes at all stages of the children’s lives in the nursery. Reflecting on your own setting, consider the following:

  • How effectively do your processes for settling in new children support them and their parents/carers to become familiar with their new environment?
  • How well do we work with parents/carers to ensure transitions are personalised, planned in advance and sensitively handled?
  • How do we support children to develop a positive attitude to change and form new relationships to ensure continuity as they move across the setting?
  • How well do we use transition information to take account of prior learning and plan progressive learning for all children?
