National Summary Report April to June 2024: Key messages

  1. The deployment of staff using the Attainment Scotland Fund has had a positive impact on improving outcomes for children and young people
  2. Partnership working with other services is effective in supporting families and family learning
  3. Attainment Scotland Funding supports local authorities to address key national priorities, such as attendance
  4. Most authorities have prioritised sustainability beyond 2026 and have considered ‘transition' strategies
  5. Local authorities continue to consider difficult decisions on how they can maintain support for children and young people to reduce the poverty-related attainment gap whilst taking account of fiscal challenges
  6. Increased support at local authority level for the planning, reporting and quality assurance of PEF has resulted in more impactful interventions for children and young people
  7. Where local authorities have demonstrated that they have processes in place for Senior Phase stretch aim trajectories for SCQF 5 and 6, these should be shared more widely
  8. Attainment advisors play a significant role in supporting local authorities and schools in all aspects in the delivery of the Scottish Attainment Challenge
