In the latest episode of The Learning Conversations podcast Education Scotland Chief Executive, Gillian Hamilton, discusses Froebelian practice with Professor Tina Bruce CBE.

Gillian hosts the podcast series which aims to explore a wide range of topics relating to education that will be of interest to those working within education as well as those with an interest in the sector.

Professor Tina Bruce CBE is a Froebelian trained teacher, who has spent her career supporting the development of educators working with young children. Froebelian practice is one of the approaches highlighted within our national practice guidance for early years, Realising The Ambition: Being Me.

Reflecting on the discussion Gillian said:

“I could see how so much of what Tina was saying, aligns with our current thinking and ambition for Scottish education and how well our Scottish curriculum and pedagogical approaches, connect with Froebelian practice. In fact, a lot of what we now take for granted in early learning and childcare and the early years of primary, has its origins in Froebel’s ideas.”
