HM Inspectors of Education have published a new anti-bullying resource. The resource features 17 case studies from schools across Scotland. These examples illustrate effective approaches to preventing and responding to bullying.

In February 2023, HM Inspectors published a national thematic review of recording and monitoring bullying. This set out some recommendations for improvement. The new case studies support schools in progressing the review’s recommendations.

HM Chief Inspector of Education Janie McManus said:

“We have observed significant approaches and interventions for preventing and responding to bullying. They are marked by innovation, empathy, and unwavering determination.

The Inspectorate takes pride in highlighting these success stories. These efforts show the crucial work in schools across Scotland. They are creating environments where bullying is discussed and challenged as unacceptable.

We want to show more of what is working well in Scotland’s schools. This will inspire and guide progress in this area. These case studies serve as practical models for schools facing similar challenges.”
