Support for learners on SQA results day

Published 07/08/2023.  Last updated 07/08/2023

On Tuesday 8 August, thousands of young people across Scotland will receive the results for their Nationals, Highers, Advanced Highers, National Progression Awards, Skills for Work Awards, National Certificates and Awards.

All learners will have their results certificate delivered to their home address by first class post on Tuesday 8 August. Those who have signed-up for and activated their MySQA account will also receive their results by text and/or email the same morning.

Whatever your results, you have options.

Skills Development Scotland (SDS) delivers Scotland’s career service. SDS provide support to learners, and their parents and carers at what can be an uncertain time.

Help on results day

The SDS Results Helpline number is 0808 100 8000.

This helpline goes live at 8am on results day, Tuesday 8 until Friday 11 August 2023.

The 2023 Results Helpline opening hours are:

  • Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 August, 8am to 8pm.
  • Thursday 10 and Friday 11 August, 9am to 5pm.

You can talk to SDS' expert careers advisers about course vacancies at UK colleges and universities, confirmation and clearing, advice about Foundation, Modern, and Graduate Apprenticeships, jobs, volunteering, or staying on at school.

SDS careers advisers are at the end of the phone to help young people and their parents and carers.

There's also lots of results support on Scotland's career website, My World of Work – it’s packed with advice, information and resources.

If you would prefer to speak to someone in person, you can visit an SDS centre or community venue to talk to a careers adviser about your results and next steps.

No appointment is necessary. Find your nearest centre at myworldofwork.co.uk/centres.

SQA Appeals Service

On results day, if you’re concerned about one of your grades, you may want to use the SQA free Appeals Service – Appeals 2023.

You should speak to your teacher or lecturer in the first instance – but the SQA also has a handy decision tree tool which will go live on results day to help you work out if an appeal might be right for you.
