Highly able pupils
If your child is highly able this means they are working, or have the potential to work, ahead of other children and young people their own age. Your child may be working at this level across the whole curriculum or in one or more particular areas.
How can I help?
- Join classes or clubs relevant to your child's talent.
- Encourage reading.
- Foster their general knowledge.
- Encourage your child to discuss their views and opinions.
- Encourage social situations with peers.
Where can I find further advice?
The Scottish Network for Able Pupils (SNAP) works with teaching staff to support highly able children. One form of support that SNAP provides is staff development, including workshops for teachers.
