Eòghan was successful in his broad general education achieving fourth curriculum level in some areas while still developing confidence and skills in French and history.

His S3 profile highlighted an interest in and ability for enterprise and business, but he decided on a programme of study that would keep his options open.

In S4 Eòghan choose to study most subjects at National 5 over one year and decided on a two year programme of study at National 4/National 5 in history as this was one of his weakest subjects.

In S5 he continued his studies with a mixture of National 5 and Higher courses progressing to Advanced Higher in business management in S6. He was delighted to have the opportunity to study for Higher photography at school as this was a hobby he had enjoyed for some time.

The skills Eòghan developed and the leadership opportunities he gained through his involvement with the school enterprise group provided evidence for an NQ Leadership award and helped him secure a place on a management trainee scheme with a major high street retailer.

I was always keen on enterprise and business-type activities from my first fund-raising experience at primary school when we had to turn £1 into as much cash as possible for a local charity. However, I made a conscious decision to keep my options open in the senior phase as I wasn’t totally sure that a degree in business and marketing was what I really wanted to do. I developed a very wide range of essential skills leading the school’s enterprise group and because of that decided to take a more vocational route by joining a management training scheme with a major high-street retailer.
