Sajida's learner journey

Sajida’s school reports highlighted her ability in maths, science, project work and problem solving. She was keen to leave school for work.

In S4 she studied most subjects at National 5 level and maths and physics at National 4.

Sajida left school at the end of S4. Some years later she wanted a new challenge. She went to college to study Highers in maths, English and physics and progressed on to complete a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in mechanical engineering.
Having successfully completed her HNC she went onto second year of a mechanical engineering degree course at University and went on to work for a renewable energy company.

I probably did not appreciate the opportunities available in school. I achieved a reasonable set of grades and passes at N4 and N5 but with minimum effort and couldn’t wait to leave school to join the family business. Several years later I realised that I needed more of a challenge in my professional career and decided to study Highers at the local college. I went on to further study at HNC level and then a degree.
