Inclusion, wellbeing and equalities framework: Skilled level

The Skilled level of the Inclusion Wellbeing and Equalities Professional learning framework provides more depth and detail. It aims to further extend educator’s understanding and skills and to enhance upper universal and some targeted approaches required for some children and young people.

This level is not intended to reflect someone’s seniority but the nature of the role they hold in relation to their responsibilities and the level of support provided to children and young people.

The activities and resources in this section have been designed to support educators’ knowledge and practice.

In each of the four themes there are a range of activities and resources, in a variety of formats to select from.

  • Inclusion

  • Rights and equalities

  • Relationships

  • Wellbeing and care

How to use the Skilled level of the framework

Depending on your context and setting, there are different ways the framework could be used, for example:

  1. Facilitated Professional Learning

  2. Collaborative Professional Learning

  3. Self-Directed Professional Learning

The resources within the framework can also be used with a combination of the above approaches.

For example:

  • teams may focus on one of the four themes, use development time to access activities and resources and then discuss at an in-service day or collegiate session

  • individuals and teams can use the activities and resources in this level to ensure a consistent understanding of supporting the strengths and needs of all children and young people which is relevant to their context
