This flexible course for those with a passion for education can be taken either online or by attending QMU. It will allow you to develop professional-standard research skills applicable to a range of educational contexts. An MRes can give you a competitive edge in your professional career or in the researcher job market, and is also a valuable stepping stone towards a PhD, or equally a sound basis for embedding research in your professional practice.

Educational research at QMU has four foci:
- social justice
- health and wellbeing
- inclusive leadership
- creative curricula.
Other aspects of education would also be considered, and the University has expertise in a wide range of specific topics, eg outdoor learning, children’s rights, politics of food.
You can optionally identify the specific subject of your research in the award title.
Study options: full or part-time
You can choose to study full-time or part-time, either:
- one year full-time, or
- between 2.5 and 5 years part-time.

Applicants are asked to provide a brief research proposal that includes the following:
- Area of research
- Proposed research question
- Research aim/research question (including primary hypotheses, if appropriate)
- Context (1-2 page literature review)
- Proposed methodology, design, participants and analysis
- Proposed supervisor and outline of contact to date (if any)
