Study options: full or part-time

  • Full-time Masters are studied over one academic year (September to August).

Programmes are offered via distance learning, blended learning and, in some case, face-to-face formats.

Course structure

From PGDE to MEd (if you have completed your PGDE with Masters credits)

Part-time Course Structure (180 credits over three to five years)

Prior learning

In accordance with UWS regulations, relevant Masters level qualifications or credits awarded in the previous five years can be considered for ‘recognition of prior learning’. The programme leader will be able to advise you if your prior learning is eligible. See: UWS Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Handbook and/or UWS Regulatory Framework (Chapter 2 - Admissions and Recognition of Prior Learning).

Costs

Information regarding programme fees (by module) is published annually on the UWS website

The webpages also include information about payment methods and potential sources of funding (where applicable). Each year, it is vital that programme participants have arrangements in place to cover their module fees before a programme/module commences; a minimum deposit (equivalent to one module) is payable during the formal, annual enrolment process.

For more information see the UWS Money, Fees and Funding page.

Application process

Applications are made online and applicants are required to provide a range of documents in support of an application. For example:

  • copies of your existing degree(s)
  • a personal statement setting out why you are applying for the programme, relevant work/professional experience and your interest in this area of study; what impact do you hope to make in your personal and professional context during your programme of study (and beyond)
  • references; one reference should be from a line manager/employer.

Individual programme specifications will also detail the general and specific entry requirements to each programme. Academic specialism leads will be able to advise you further as required. For more information see the Part-time Study Application Guide
