Online collaboration space guidelines
This is a space for respectful and engaging discussion. You can share ideas and connect with others who are engaged in professional learning or networks.
To ensure a positive experience for everyone, we ask that you follow these guidelines:
Be respectful and inclusive
Treat everyone with respect and embrace diversity. Our community welcomes people from all backgrounds, with different viewpoints and experiences.
-
Be kind, courteous, and considerate in your interactions, even when you disagree. Passionate disagreement is not considered to be extreme unless it is disrespectful!
-
Avoid personal attacks, insults, or derogatory language.
-
Being aware of, educating ourselves and using appropriate terminology when discussing protected characteristics can help avoid perpetuating stereotypes or insensitivity.
-
All forms of harassment, bullying, intimidation, and discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated. You may be removed from the collaboration space by the Education Scotland Facilitator.
-
Offer feedback in a thoughtful and respectful manner. Focus on the content of the post, not the person.
Be mindful of your language
Education Scotland has inclusive language guides for race and ethnicity, for sexual orientation, sex and gender and for disability.
Use of hate speech, which attacks or demeans others based on protected characteristics, is strictly prohibited. Please read Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act: factsheet for further information.
-
Avoid profanity and offensive language.
-
Consider the impact of your words on others.
-
Avoid jargon, acronyms, and overly complex phrases. Speak in a way that is accessible to all.
Be responsible for your content
You are responsible and accountable for your posts and the content you share in the community:
-
Do not post or share any illegal or harmful content or links
-
Do not share copyrighted material without permission
Stay On Topic
To ensure that all content is appropriate:
-
Keep your posts and comments relevant to the topic of the discussion and the purpose of the collaboration space.
-
Avoid spam and self-promotion
-
Do not post unsolicited advertisements, promotional materials, or links to irrelevant websites.
Protect privacy
These spaces are for you and your peers to share ideas, ask questions and discuss your learning. To protect those who use the space:
-
do not share personal information and respect confidentiality
-
do not share the personal information of others, such as contact details
-
do not share posts and comments outside the collaboration space.
