International Professional Development Association Conference
Are you are interested in Professional Learning for Educators? If so, the annual IPDA international conference is for you! It will take place at the Aston Conference Centre, in Birmingham City Centre from the 28th to the 30th of June. This year’s theme is broad and inclusive: 'Developing Professional Learning through Collaboration and Learning with other Professions.' We hope that it will support participants from a wide range of professional learning contexts. If you are a Master's or Doctoral student who is interested in any aspect of educator professional learning, please do submit a proposal. Likewise, if you collaborate with colleagues interested in professional learning in other disciplines or areas, please do speak to them about the conference and perhaps consider a joint proposal.
IPDA is the International Professional Development Association and has regional associations across the globe. It has two highly rated ‘in-house’ academic journals that are included in its membership fee: Professional Development in Education and Practice. The IPDA Scotland association hosts a few events each year and supports a network for Professional Learning Research Network for doctoral and Master’s students. The conference has gained a reputation in recent years as being the ‘friendly conference’ and at IPDA we’re quite proud of that! There is a very supportive and collegial ethos at the conference and throughout the organisation generally, please do contact me if you want to find out more.
We are particularly keen to encourage participation from doctoral or Master’s students and Early Career Researchers (ECRS). There is an active Early Career Researcher network within IPDA and a lively conference programme of events exclusively for ECRs on the 28th of June.
If you are not already a member of IPDA, attendance at the conference includes membership of IPDA for one year. This is a great chance to join this international network of educators for professional learning in teacher education and a wide range of other educational contexts.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you need any more information. I’m looking forward to seeing you there!
