Early Career Teacher Experience (Secondary Numeracy & Mathematics)

This programme is a self-directed learning experience intended to support mathematics teachers who are in the first few years of their teaching career and would like to deepen their understanding and confidence in relation to mathematics learning, teaching and assessment. It can also be used by more experienced teachers, either as an individual refresher, or as part of a wider school improvement approach.

This programme is aimed at secondary mathematics teachers who are in their first few years of teaching, however, it can also be used by more experienced practitioners.

There is a wide range of content including:

  • Number & Number Processes
  • Fractions, Decimal Fractions & Percentages
  • Teaching Time
  • Ideas of Chance & Uncertainty
  • Data & Analysis
  • Money
  • Taking Maths out of the Department
  • Effective Questioning Approaches
  • Making the Most of Manipulatives

There is no requirement to access every module, just the ones which are relevant to each teacher’s own development requirements.

Each module contains a series of short videos which can be accessed at a time suitable to the individual.

Each module is followed up with a series of reflective questions and short tasks alongside some optional follow up learning.
