Early Level Collaborative Numeracy/Mathematics Project

Published 24/02/2021.  Last updated 25/11/2024

This programme was funded by the Education Scotland STEM Grants programme. It was designed in response to a need to build practitioners' confidence and knowledge around early mathematics and numeracy across early level, especially in relation to progression of learning and deep knowledge of key concepts. The group format that brings ELC practitioners and P1 teachers together was devised to encourage professional respect and relationships to form across early level. It was designed to be collaborative and for the group to lead their own learning and take responsibility for progression.

This programme will support:

  • increased confidence in numeracy/mathematics teaching through Early Level
  • increased knowledge about key early numeracy/mathematics concepts
  • reigniting an interest in learning
  • confidence in leading your own learning and becoming a reflective and critical practitioner.

Early learning and childcare practitioners/managers and early level primary school teachers.

This programme has a flexible duration depending on the needs of the group and regularity of input/meetings. The programme will take a minimum of six weeks. Sessions usually run for two hours but again can be flexible to the needs of the group.
