Planning a practitioner enquiry: the purpose of enquiry
What is the purpose of practitioner enquiry and why is it worth doing?
Now you have had the opportunity to reflect and explore existing research and literature around your enquiry theme or area of interest , it is time to think about how this becomes a practitioner enquiry.
To do this we must first consider what the nature and purpose of enquiry is in an educational setting.
Kate Wall, Professor of Education at University of Strathclyde, is passionate about how practitioner enquiry can be a bridge between theory and practice.
You may want to begin by watching this video which is a conversation with Professor Kate Wall (YouTube.com) at the University of Strathclyde.
(Please note that although this video is from a few years ago, and aimed at teachers engaging in enquiry, it is relevant to all. We are looking to add newer resources over this year.)
Or if you prefer a podcast; in this episode of the educational Changing Conversations podcast, Kate shares her views on what enquiry is, what it is not and how it can be an effective tool for all teachers and practitioners.
And finally this Education Blog written by teaching fellows at Strathclyde University: Professor Kate Wall, Dr Anna Beck and Nova Scott (Nova is also a recent headteacher) covers in a succinct and readable way the nature and purpose of enquiry.
