Middle Leaders Leading Change: Professional learning activities

Each of the following self-directed Professional Learning Activities (PLAs) contains research, literature and video links relating to the topic. Working through each of the PLAs will guide your learning through the programme. Whilst there is a sequence suggested below, you can complete the PLAs in any order to suit your own needs. Before accessing the PLAs, you may wish to check out our guide to creating an account on our website.

The PLAs provide opportunities to capture your reflections at every stage of the journey. You may also choose to reflect on each PLA as a whole in the MLLC Reflective Journal. All of your notes and reflection on your learning are for your own benefit and are not for submission. At times there is additional suggested reading and optional extra learning opportunities.

As you progress through the programme, we recommend sharing your learning journey with colleagues and with the young people you work with.

You may use your Reflective Journal to record key reflections at the end of each PLA in the MLLC programme.

This PLA introduces the concept of self-awareness and how it impacts on effective leadership. It also touches on emotional intelligence and values-based leadership.
