Active learning strategies in classical languages
How to use this exemplar to improve practice
The strategies in this case study show innovative practice in classical languages with a focus on incorporating active learning in language learning.
The six strategies provided show active and engaging ways of supporting learners to help them to revise grammar, vocabulary and aspects of Roman life.
This will help pupils develop their knowledge and understanding and analytical and translation skills, as outlined in the classical languages experiences and outcomes.
To consider:
- Which strategies could you incorporate straight away into your teaching of classical languages?
- How could you share strategies for active learning across the curriculum?
- How will you evaluate the success of implementing these strategies?
