Challenging Poverty

These practice examples describe ways that Community Learning and Development (CLD) can support community responses to the cost-of-living crisis. Challenging the causes and effects of poverty across Scotland.

Service managers, practitioners, and third-sector providers have shared insights from their areas . This has informed our consideration of the challenges that CLD providers face. We also considered CLD and wider community responses, and the impact of this can have on learners and communities.

We discussed:

  • ways that CLD providers are signposting learners and communities
  • other local services and sources of support
  • ways CLD providers can partner with other initiatives to mitigate the current cost of living crisis

All practice examples have used CLD approaches. However, we recognise that CLD services are different across Scotland. As such, service names and individual roles may vary.
