During the inspection of Dunlop Primary School in East Ayrshire Council, HM Inspectors highlighted the approach to literacy teaching and high levels of literacy attainment, particularly in writing.

Teachers at Dunlop Primary provide effective opportunities for learning, particularly in literacy. This, along with the use of data, varied assessment approaches and moderation within and across the education group, is leading to high levels of literacy attainment, particularly in writing.

A sketchnote has been developed to share this practice, along with a headteacher’s blog and a recovery update, which relates this practice to the recovery year and time children spent remote learning.
