Croft Street Hub (CSH) - Midlothian Council

Croft Street Hub (CSH) supports young people aged 12+ years to offer an alternative curriculum, including life and social skills, and SQA accredited qualifications. CSH directly engages with young people living in urban and rural communities who are not attending school and are at risk of negative destinations and/or no qualifications. Approximately 95% of referrals have difficulties with attendance and engagement at school. Almost all young people are care experienced or have social, emotional, and behavioural needs.

CSH is facilitated by staff from Midlothian Council’s Community Learning and Development (CLD) service. The project is funded annually. All mainstream high schools in Midlothian make a financial contribution, in addition to core funding from the CLD budget to support staffing and ongoing costs. Alternative funding is used for aspects of the programme’s delivery. Overall, it is seen as a sustainable project due to the consistent level of need and ongoing commitment from the schools and CLD to continue to fund the Hub.
