Pupil Engagement Team - Orkney Island Council
The Pupil Engagement Team (PET) is a targeted youth work project to support children, young people and their families with positive attendance and engagement in school. The project is delivered by Orkney Islands Council’s Community Learning and Development (CLD) and Employability team (CLDE), specifically within Papdale Primary School and a local secondary school.
The project aims to improve attendance and engagement by effectively collaborating across sectors to provide bespoke opportunities through one to one, universal and targeted group work activities. The PET uses several sources of data, including the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation, free school meal entitlement, clothing grants and local knowledge to inform and direct support. It is supported by Attainment Scotland Funding, including the Strategic Equity Fund and Pupil Equity Funding. The Whole Family Wellbeing Fund and core CLDE funding are also used to fund specific posts. The project is currently reliant on this funding.
