Stirling Community Learning and Development (CLD) - Stirling Council: Identifying need and aims

This section outlines the need for the project and how the basis of partnership working was established. It also includes the overall ambition of the partnership and an overview of those involved.

Members of the Educational Psychology service approached the Community Learning and Development (CLD) Youth Participation team to support children and young people transitioning back to school after the COVID-19 pandemic. They were concerned some children and young people would have difficulties returning to school after lockdowns and could develop attendance issues. This was based on observations and conversations that staff from Educational Psychology were having with specific families alongside discussions with head teachers in schools.

A core ambition of the project was to work with children and young people who had begun to develop issues with their attendance due to various factors. The project sought to support children and young people with inputs that made the transition from home to school easier.

The project hoped to make the transition back to school as smooth as possible with a focus on promoting mental and emotional wellbeing. It also looked to improve social skills, build positive relationships, friendships, support them to be more confident and strengthen their voice.
