What is attachment? What is resilience?

Target Audience: All these modules can be used as whole school *everybody in school learning together however some practitioners pick them up as part of their own self-directed learning. Course: Restorative Justice and Hate Crime

Content: Participants will develop an understanding of the specific harms of hate crime and the particular support needs of victims of hate crime in a Restorative Justice process. Participants will understand the concept of Trauma Informed Restorative Justice. By the end of the course participants will be prepared for and be able to facilitate Restorative Justice interventions. The course will be tailored to the needs of the participants.

Course: Bespoke Trauma informed RJ course, introduction (2 hours – 6 hours) or 4 days

Content: This course/session will introduce the topic of trauma informed practice, we will examine the principles of trauma informed practice and how they intersect with the principles of restorative justice. Using (anonymous) case studies we will examine how to put our principles into practice.

Content: This course/session offers a thorough insight into application of restorative justice in cases of serious harm. It allows participants to explore the special principles and safeguards of applying restorative justice in cases that are considered serious. The learning is organised through active participation, discussions, group exercises and common reflections, and it features specific and practical examples such as for example scenarios of (anonymised) cases.

Course: Peer Mediation Training

Content: A fun, activities-based two day training session delivered in schools for up to 24 young people. This training will give the young people the basic conflict resolution skills and knowledge they need to lead and conduct mediations for low level conflict among their peers. The training, along with continued follow up post training, will allow schools to set up a sustainable peer mediation program lead by and for their young people.

Target Audience: Primary school pupils in P5 and P6 & Secondary school pupils in S5 Type of input: Training for trainers (online or in person)

Course: Peer Mediation Training for Trainers

Content: In this training, up to 15 members of staff are invited to participate in a one day in person, or two 3.5 hour online, training sessions. These sessions, along with the Peer Mediation Resource Pack, will give staff some basic conflict resolution skills, knowledge of peer mediation, and the ability to set up/ sustain a peer mediation program within their school. We recommend teachers attend a training for trainers first and then facilitate a two day in-school training alongside one of Scottish Mediation’s peer mediation trainers.

Target Audience: Staff within school who have the capacity and willingness to support the schools peer mediation scheme. This can be class teachers, PSAs, or SLTs.
