Nurture in Scotland

Introduction

In January 2024 a survey on nurture was sent out through the Association of Scottish Principal Educational Psychologists to Scottish Local Authority Nurture leads. This survey asked a range of questions exploring nurture groups, nurturing approaches, evaluation and impact as well as developments in the Local Authority related to nurture.

Seventeen out of 32 Local Authorities (53%) completed the survey allowing a snapshot of nurture in Scotland in 2024. The questions asked in the survey are available in Appendix 1. Follow up interviews were carried out with 9 local authorities following the survey. Information from these interviews is captured in a series of case studies (Appendix 2).
