The Social Studies Skills Progression Framework  provides an opportunity for teachers to explore the development and assessment of skills in the social studies curriculum area. 

 The assessment of skills can be a useful tool in determining the progress of learners in an area where possible contexts are very broad and pupils are unlikely to revisit them.
