Education Scotland have carried out a review of equality impact assessment for the 2022 updated corporate plan

In 2021, we published our five year Corporate Plan. This described our vision for achieving excellence and equity for Scotland’s learners. Working in partnership with Scotland’s educators.

The Scottish Government responded to Professor Ken Muir’s review of our education system. their response included the intention to establish a new national agency for Scottish education. This included the creation of a separate inspection body.

We produced an update to the 2021 Plan. The 2022 update covered the period 2022 to 2024. This was based on the understanding that the new bodies would be operational by the end of 2024.

The timescale for reform of the national organisations has been extended. This allows more time to consider and develop a response to education and skills reform.

The updated plan includes a response to the independent review of qualifications and assessment. It also responds to the skills delivery landscape review.

We have produced a further update to our Corporate Plan for the period 2024 to 2025. This will ensure we continue to evolve as we move towards the establishment of the new education bodies.

This update sets out our priorities for the coming year. It includes priorities that the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills has asked the Agency to focus on over the next 12 to 18 months.

We have also reviewed the 2022 Corporate Plan's impact assessment. This ensures that any changes which could affect educators are captured and addressed.

The review found that changes laid out in the further update to the Corporate Plan would not alter the original findings of the impact assessment undertaken in 2022.

The findings of the original impact assessment will continue to be monitored in support of the delivery of Education Scotland Corporate Plan.

It was also noted that additional asks or changes as part of the reform process would not impact upon the EQIA of the Corporate Plan, but would themselves be subject to individual EQIAs.
