Estates strategy

The estates strategy sets out the approach, priorities and high level plans which Education Scotland will take to maintain and develop its estate over 2019-2029 to ensure it is efficient, safe and fit for purpose. It ensures our approach to office accommodation, and the associated financial investment, is underpinned by a strong understanding of current and future business needs.

Education Scotland shares the Scottish Government’s approach to the wider public sector property portfolio. We will share and implement best practice in accommodation use, and work in collaboration with public sector bodies through the development of co-location opportunities.

It should be noted that the strategy was developed prior to the COVID-19 pandemic which resulted in all of us working remotely for a lengthy period. As a result, we are all working differently than we were prior to the pandemic with more emphasis on a hybrid approach.  We are currently working with our staff to develop our approach to hybrid working and our Estates Strategy will be updated accordingly. In the meantime, we will continue to manage our Estate in line with our business requirements.
