Cyber Scotland Week (27 February to 5 March) aims to help make Scotland more cyber security aware and resilient with a series of events. Education Scotland’s digital skills team are running several sessions with partners throughout the week and beyond.

Live lesson with Barefoot: Be Cyber Smart (for First Level) 

Monday the 27 February 2023 11:00 to 11:45

In this session we will explore how we can keep our things secure using locks and passwords. We will look at a range of digital and non-digital everyday objects which can be locked to keep them secure.

Tech She Can live assembly (primarily for second level learners)

Thursday 2 March 2023 09:30

Join Poppy from Tech She Can to explore the world of cyber in this live tech for safety and security assembly. While this is aimed at second level learners it can still be enjoyed by younger and older learners with teacher support. This has been rescheduled from 1 March.

NCSC childminders in Scotland session and play-along for children (early level)

2 March 2023 at 09:30, 13:30 or 19:00

This session is for all childminders working in Scotland. This session will provide you with advice and steps you can take to minimise the likelihood and impact of a cyber-attack, and information about where to get help and advice if you need it. Sign up to the morning, afternoon or evening session. Part of the morning and afternoon session will include a story ‘Monkey Cow’ by Stuart Spendlow and an activity for children focusing on creating secure passwords. Code Along: networks and radio communication with micro:bit (for second level learners and above)

3 March 2023 from 11:00 to 11:45

In this session we will send messages between two or more BBC micro:bits. To protect our messages we will use some simple encryption to ensure that our messages cannot be intercepted and read by anyone other than who we intend them to be read by.

Cyber Toolkit webinar (for practitioners)

16 March 2023 at 16:00

This session will provide an overview of the Cyber Toolkit and how it supports teaching cyber resilience and internet safety. This session has been rescheduled from 1 March.
