Nominations for the Scottish Education Awards 2022 are now open

The Scottish Education Awards are back for 2022. The awards recognise those who dedicate their lives to children and young people and showcases the valuable work and innovation in Scottish classrooms.

Entry to the awards is open to all publicly funded schools, including secondary, primary, ELCs and special schools and there are eleven categories including:

  • Community Learning and Development Award
  • Parent and Family Engagement Award
  • Gaelic Education Award
  • Making a difference (Early Learning and Child Care)
  • Making a difference (Primary)
  • Making a difference (Secondary)
  • Curriculum Innovation Award
  • Digital Innovator of the Year
  • Teacher of the Year
  • Headteacher of the Year
  • Lifetime Achievement Award

Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Education and Chief Executive of Education Scotland, Gayle Gorman said: "I am delighted to announce that we are bringing back the Scottish Education Awards for 2022.  We want to help celebrate all that Scottish education has achieved during, and despite, these difficult times.  We know that there is great work going on, across all the categories, and we want to see nominations from all over Scotland and from every sector.  Let’s celebrate the fantastic work that’s happening to support Scotland learning."

The Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills, Shirley Anne Somerville launched the 2022 awards in a video message to the education profession.

Ms Somerville said: “There has never been a better time to recognise the innovation, dedication and commitment demonstrated by the education profession in Scotland.  The Scottish Education Awards give us all the opportunity to recognise, share and celebrate all of the incredible work that has happened in schools and settings across the country.” 

The Scottish Education Awards were first launched in November 2001 by the Scottish Government and the Scottish Daily Record, with the specific aims of celebrating the successes and recognising the achievements taking place within Scottish education.

The awards nominations close at 23:59 on Wednesday 23rd February 2022.
