Young carers
Your child may be looking after someone in your family who has an illness, a disability, a mental health problem or a substance misuse issue, and will probably be taking on a practical and emotional caring role.
How can I help?
- Let your child have time with their friends.
- Listen to what they have to say.
- Ensure your child has time for their own hobbies and interests.
- Find a Young Carers' support network in your area.
- Keep in touch with the school.
- Involve your child in decisions and plans where appropriate.
