Ben's learner journey
Ben was successful in his broad general education achieving fourth curriculum level in some areas while still developing confidence and skills in maths and music.
In S4 Ben chose to study most subjects at National 5 and maths and music at National 4.
In S5, Ben continued his studies with a mixture of National 5s and Highers. In discussion with the school and his parents, Ben agreed that a two-year programme of study in maths and music would allow him to learn across National 5 and Higher and he would aim to sit these Highers at the end of S6.Ben also progressed to Advanced Higher German which he studied at a neighbouring school.
Ben promoted modern languages in school by organising a regular film club for S1 pupils and gained an NQ Leadership Award.
Ben successfully applied to study German and French at university.
I discovered a love of languages from summer holidays in Germany and France. I was always the most enthusiastic in the German and French classes but never really considered this as a future career. However, I was involved with the promotion of modern languages in the school and this made me realise that I had the necessary knowledge and skills to study German and French at university and perhaps progress to a future career as a teacher.
