Gregor’s S3 profile highlighted he had particular skills relating to a range of sports including tennis, basketball and football where he was captain of a local, junior team. He was keen to further develop in this area.

In S4 Gregor chose to study all subjects, over one year, at either National 4 or National 5.

In S5, he continued with one-year Higher programmes in PE and 3 subjects at National 5 progressing to Higher in these subjects in S6.

He was also keen to put into practice his learning in the Skills for Work course and took responsibility for setting up and coaching a football team three times per week. This led to a Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership.
Gregor progressed to college to study a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Sports Coaching with Development of Sport.

Sport has always come first for me. The staff in school reminded me constantly that it was important to get good grades as well as excel at sport. I knew that they were right and tried to work hard most of the time but all I really wanted to do was to play sport. I was encouraged and supported by my teachers to try to get the balance right so that I could continue to improve my performance skills and fit in time to work hard and get good grades across the board: my PE teacher also gave me lots of opportunities to develop my coaching skills. In the longer term, I would really like to be a PE teacher but as long as I can work in sport I will be happy.
