Online professional learning for student and early career teachers

Student teachers and newly qualified teachers! The following opportunities are specifically for you.

Language Cafes

Language cafes are monthly online gatherings for secondary PGDE students, NQTs, and ECTs of languages. Meet and connect with others in similar positions from all over the country. These Cafes provide a chance to exchange ideas, strategies, and to chat in other languages from time to time.

If you are interested, find out more and secure your spot.

The Languages in Primary ECT network

The Languages in Primary ECT network is set to launch during Languages Week Scotland 2024. There will be monthly online Signpost sessions where you can learn from and share ideas with colleagues regarding supporting multilingual learners and teaching modern languages, according to Scotland's (1+2) languages policy. Sign up to the SCILT news bulletin and be the first to know when the network launches.

Group workshops for student and early career teachers

Local authority probation managers and ITE programme leads can book workshops for groups of student teachers, new or recently qualified teachers in their context.

Our team at SCILT provides opportunities for student and early career teachers to develop in languages pedagogy through a variety of interactive and up-to-date workshops led by our experienced Professional Development Officers.
