Guide to accessing professional learning activities

17 January 2022

Due to the changing context, the Professional Learning and Leadership team at Education Scotland is pausing the live online delivery of some of its programmes for a short period of time. From previous experience, we recognise that whilst there will remain a desire to continue to engage in professional learning, it can be extremely challenging to create the time and space to do so in the current conditions.

We appreciate many of you will not be able to engage in professional learning with the additional pressures at the moment. But for those who are, we have self-directed professional learning activities (PLAs) you can access when and where suits you.

The learning activities are housed here on the Education Scotland professional learning and leadership online resource and can be accessed by anyone who is registered on the resource. Anyone with a local authority or GLOW email account can register. If you don’t have one of these, go ahead and complete the registration form, provide all your details and our staff will process your registration as quickly as possible.

Browse our professional learning activities

On the homepage, click on the ‘Browse all learning activities’ button and you'll be asked to log in. Once you are logged in, you can browse all the learning activities, view a record of your completed activities and, if relevant, access the Education Scotland programme areas on which you are registered.

My Account page on the online resource

There are whole range of learning activities for any practitioners at any stage of their career across a range of topics. From family engagement to digital pedagogy; from anti-racist approaches in education to health and wellbeing for all. Once again, we appreciate with the additional pressures right now in education you might not be in the ‘space’ for professional learning. But when you are, why don’t you browse through what’s on offer?

Can’t find what you’re looking for? Let us know a theme for a self-directed professional learning activity that you would be interested in via edspll@educationscotland.gov.scot.
