Sketchnote – Springfield Primary - learning, teaching and assessment – February 2020
Sketchnotes provide a visual description of practice and approaches identified by HM Inspectors during scrutiny activities as worth sharing more widely.
Successful approaches to planning learning, teaching and assessment at Springfield Primary School have shared standards and expectations, which resulted in children experiencing high levels of challenge in their learning.
Questions for discussion
Reflecting on your own setting, consider the following:
- How confident are we that all learners experience activities which are varied, differentiated, active, and provide effective support and challenge?
- How well do we apply the principles of planning, observation, assessment, recording and reporting as an integral feature of learning and teaching?
- In what ways do we make use of a range of valid, reliable and relevant assessment tools and approaches to support the improvement of children and young people’s learning?
- To what extent do we enable all children and young people to engage in self- and peer-assessment to improve their learning? How do we know this benefits learning?
