About the role
Curriculum Improvement Cycle Education Scotland Associates will work closely with Education Scotland’s Curriculum team to support further work on the Curriculum Improvement Cycle. As part of the role, CIC ESAs may be asked to facilitate professional discussions with educators and wider stakeholders, contribute to technical framework development work and support the delivery of professional learning and information sharing sessions relating to their area of specialism.
For this role, ESAs will be asked to undertake up to 10 days of work between their successful appointment and March 2027.
There are roles available within Social studies (2 posts). The successful candidates will have significant secondary school experience planning and teaching history and or modern studies.
Essential criteria
- Curriculum areas:
- Significant experience of working in a secondary school as a teacher (minimum 5 years’ experience) or principal teacher/faculty head, with evidence of positive impact on learner outcomes.
- In-depth knowledge of the social studies curriculum.
- Experience of working effectively with a range of educators, partners and wider stakeholders.
- Evidence of strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and sustain effective professional relationships.
- Excellent analytical, evaluative and communication abilities.
- A sound understanding of current and emerging developments across all aspects of Scottish education.
