Automotive Modern Apprenticeship Review

A report on the review of off-the-job training in Automotive Modern Apprenticeships by Education Scotland.

Education Scotland evaluated the provision of the providers’ off-the-job training between September 2016 and January 2017. Achievement rates in the majority of centres visited are in line with the national average for the sector and a few centres perform above the average. Education Scotland should continue to monitor colleges delivering automotive apprenticeships in order to support them to improve their apprentices’ achievement rates and the training experience for all their apprentices, especially those with protected characteristics and females. Education Scotland should also continue working with colleges, schools and authorities to deliver the implementation plans to meet the targets of the seven year Scottish Government Youth Employment Strategy.

Hairdressing Modern Apprenticeship Report

A report on the review of off-the-job training in Hairdressing Modern Apprenticeships by Education Scotland.

Overall, training providers are effective in meeting the needs of apprentices, the hairdressing industry, employers and other stakeholders. Attainment rates on MA hairdressing programmes vary considerably across centres and withdrawal rates in some centres are high. Training is delivered well in most centres and most salons are well-resourced realistic working environments that enable apprentices to develop a range of skills.
