Assessment and moderation in BGE Science - 25 March 2025
Tue, 25 March 2025, 09:30-15:15The event will provide attendees with a valuable opportunity to engage with practitioners from across Scotland to moderate learner evidence portfolios for the Broad General Education (BGE) sciences curriculum (early to fourth level). The moderation process will provide opportunities for valuable and rich professional learning and dialogue about assessing progress and achievement within the BGE sciences curriculum.
Through this event, and the others in the series, Education Scotland seeks to develop a bank of learner evidence portfolios that have been moderated by practitioners at a national level, and to develop understanding of a national standard for achievement of a level. The nationally moderated materials will be made widely available for practitioners to use in their own schools, settings and local authorities to build confidence in practitioner professional judgment of achievement of a level, and to support local moderation processes.
This event is one of a number of similar national events taking place for BGE Sciences between February and March 2025.
This event will build on the successful national Assessing Progress in BGE Sciences event held in Glasgow on 23 January 2024. This latest sequence of events are being organised in direct response to requests made by practitioners at these events. To learn more about the event in Glasgow, please see the event Padlet here: Assessment and Moderation in BGE Sciences
