Inspection approaches to support the Curriculum Improvement Cycle: Engagement with children and young people
One of the most important parts of our work is to listen to children and young people and find out their views.
We will ask for their views about what we should look at when inspecting curricular areas and how we do this. We will update this page as our work develops.
Phase one: listening to you to understand
Firstly we want to listen and understand what children and young people think about the inspection of curricular areas. This will help us to gather ideas, identify challenges and opportunities. During February 2025 we plan to meet with children and young people from different parts of Scotland.
Phase two: drafting and developing ideas for feedback
By Spring 2025 we will use the information they provide to help us develop inspections of curricular areas. We might ask schools and local authorities to ask views of children and young people. This will depend on how things have developed in the first phase of the project.
Phase three: responding to feedback
Once we have views from groups of children and young people, we plan to use these to inform our approaches. We will continue to update these pages as our engagement work with children and young people progresses.
